Supporting our community
New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards
As part of our commitment to dairying in New Zealand, RD1 is the proud sponsor of the New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards [external site] (NZDIA) - promoting future growth and excellence in dairying.
At RD1, we want to help our farmers progress their careers, build contacts and grow their businesses. Supporting the NZDIA gives us the platform to do this, by building and rewarding best practice.
Entrants must submit a written application, followed by a two-hour, on farm assessment. This assessment process encourages farmers to take a step back and review their processes and systems and provides an opportunity for objectivity.
For the regional and national winners, it's an exciting journey of awards and interviews, and a great opportunity to build contacts, meet leaders in the dairy industry and gain valuable knowledge - not forgetting the bonus of a significant reward!

Dairy Women's Network
RD1 has committed to sponsoring the Dairy Women's Network regional groups. The partnership is aimed at growing the reach and effectiveness of these groups over a three year period, helping to increase the success of women in dairying.
Dairy Women's Network currently have 27 active Regional Groups operating across the country and plan to grow this to 30 over the coming year. These groups enable women in dairying to network and learn from each other on a regular basis. The groups also provide an essential support system for many of our women.
With the help of RD1, Dairy Women's Network plan to increase the learning opportunities for women through the Regional Groups. Education is a core focus for both RD1 and the Dairy Women's Network, and we are confident our growth plans will ultimately provide women with additional tools they can use to increase the success of their dairying businesses.
RD1's staff is now 45% female, a clear indicator that women have a strong role to play in the industry. It makes sense to support women in the dairying profession. We have people with similar interests, similar ambitions and we can also work together to make a difference in local communities.
