Don't let possums invade
Possums have destroyed forest, ruined crops and spread bovine tuberculosis across the country.
New growth in early spring unfortunately means possums start invading our farms. To achieve an effective eradication for the coming spring, now is the time to organise possum bait.
Pestoff® Possum Bait and Stations are easy to use and you are not required to hold an Approved Handler Certificate to use these products.
Pestoff Possum Bait
A very effective way of controlling possum population, Pestoff Possum Bait combines the effectiveness of the anti-coagulant toxin brodifacoum with a highly palatable cereal formulation, eliminating the need for prefeeding. Pestoff Possum Bait contains attractive lures in cinnamon, orange or raspberry, which possums can't resist! The attractive lures mean the possum will consume on average 50g per feed; 100g is enough to kill a possum (roughly two feeds).
For the best results, supply and maintain sufficient bait to ensure that possums can feed freely over 4-5 consecutive nights. Possums will usually die within 10-20 days of eating a lethal dose.
Pestoff Possum Bait Station
It is important that Pestoff Possum Bait is used in conjunction with Pestoff Possum Bait Stations. The lightweight unit holds 800g of bait and the unique design ensures rain does not spoil the bait, so it remains fresh.
Secure the Bait Stations about 200mm above ground level or at a similar distance above a tree fork where a possum can sit while feeding. Place Bait Stations at 100-150m intervals on shelter belts and bush or pasture margins.
